GARDENERS’ TRAINING ACADEMY
Bangladesh faces a significant shortage of green spaces, especially in urban areas like Dhaka, where greenery covers less than 5% of the city—far below the World Health Organization’s recommended 20–30%. Rapid urbanization, unplanned development, and encroachment on natural spaces have led to environmental degradation, poor air quality, and limited recreational opportunities, disconnecting communities from nature.
In response, Green Savers established the Gardeners' Training Academy to create a skilled workforce dedicated to urban greening. The academy focuses on training individuals with diplomas in agriculture, equipping them with expertise in plant care, pest management, and sustainable gardening practices. Participants undergo a 6-month internship, gaining hands-on experience, followed by job placement support in both private and public sectors.
A unique feature of the academy is its ability to produce skilled Tree Doctors—professionals who provide expert care for plants by diagnosing issues, managing pests, and ensuring longterm plant health. Through this program, participants learn advanced techniques in tree care, soil management, and eco-friendly interventions, enabling them to tackle complex challenges in urban greenery. These Tree Doctors play a critical role in maintaining the health of gardens, ensuring thriving ecosystems, and fostering sustainable greening projects.
The academy’s Tree Doctors transform underutilized spaces like rooftops and courtyards into thriving gardens, directly addressing the lack of greenery while enhancing biodiversity and air quality. Emphasizing eco-friendly practices such as organic composting and efficient irrigation, the academy ensures sustainable outcomes and lasting environmental impact. Through professional training, practical experience, and job placement, the Gardeners' Training Academy not only addresses the green space crisis but also elevates gardening and plant care as respected professions. By producing skilled Tree Doctors and empowering gardeners, the academy contributes to a greener, healthier Bangladesh and promotes longterm sustainability in urban environments.

HOW WE WORK
At Green Savers, we employ a comprehensive approach to plant care and green space management, combining the hands-on expertise of skilled gardeners with the strategic oversight of Tree Doctors, supervisors, and expert visitors. This collaborative framework ensures the health, sustainability, and vibrancy of every project we undertake.
Our gardeners are responsible for the daily maintenance and care of plants. Their tasks include trimming, weeding, pruning, pest management, nutrient application, and watering. In addition, they handle fertilizer management, ensuring proper nutrient supply, and assist with soil recharge to maintain soil health. These activities contribute directly to the success and longevity of our projects by keeping plants healthy and thriving.
The Tree Doctors, as specialized experts, play a pivotal role in advancing our greening initiatives. They perform critical tasks such as pH balancing to optimize soil conditions, seed germination for plant propagation, sapling production, and grafting to develop robust and high-yield plants. Tree Doctors also oversee the application of fertilizers, ensuring optimal plant nutrition, and implement measures to protect against pests and diseases.
