Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), in collaboration with Green Savers and Delta.com Limited, is set to establish the country's first Urban Tree Museum and Tree Service and Roof Garden Support Centre in the capital.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today at Nagar Bhaban between DNCC, Green Savers, and Delta.com Limited to implement and maintain the initiatives.
Speaking as chief guest at the signing ceremony, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz said, "The Urban Tree Museum and the Tree Service and Roof Garden Support Centre will connect the people of the city with nature. Caring for trees means caring for your own life."
The Urban Tree Museum, to be located in the RAJUK Uttara Extension Project (Phase-3) area, will showcase endangered, threatened, and native tree species of Dhaka. It will also serve as a space for research, education, and recreation, promoting environmental awareness and civic engagement.
Meanwhile, the Tree Service and Roof Garden Support Centre, to be set up at Gulshan Shaheed Tajuddin Memorial Park, will offer expert diagnostic and advisory services for tree care. The facility will include a tree hospital, plant pharmacy, and laboratory for soil testing, pest identification, and treatment solutions.
The centre will also feature a green reading and relaxation area, low-cost seedling sales, and a Tree Shelter Home service for tree owners to temporarily store plants during travel.
Officials said the initiatives will mark a new milestone in Bangladesh's efforts toward urban greening, environmental restoration, and sustainable city development.
